Epic Road Trip Part 1

This Road trip was a big experience for me.  If you don’t know why check my previous blog post. I don’t want to go all into it just know that this was the first multi day roadtrip that I’ve taken with anyone.  So who knew what would happen as Josh and I played Power Tourists across the US….

2015-03-29 17.27.57The trip started with a multi-leg RedEye flight leaving from Reno, first to Salt Lake City, where we were greeted by an audacious Sunset from as we were landing.  Leading to our first 4 Hour layover until boarding to Atlanta where we were greeted with rain lots of rain and another 4 Hour Layover before finally setting off to our destination of Charleston SC.  We learned a lot during these flights (well I did) including the fact that regular seating is no place for anyone taller than 6 feet tall unless you want your knees jammed all up in the seat in front of you. Just request to be sat at the emergency exit doors for some added comfort!

Greeted at the airport in style by an old friend and his new car, we were off to introduce Josh to southern life starting off with an ohhh so delicious southern comfort breakfast. Shrimp and Grits at the famous

Hominy Grill was the perfect spot.  Bite after bite the south impressed him enticing to eat more and more.

It was just enough comfort food to knock both of us out cold for most of the car ride to Myrtle Beach. Which was great as we did not get much sleep on the plane.  Arriving in Myrtle Beach we decided to welcome Josh to the South right with some mid day Moonshine tasting of South Carolina’s first legal Moonshine at Palmetto Moonshine.

Moonshine Tasting… FIRST legal moonshine in SC. #palmettomoonshine ##GoDoBe #epicroadtripbrah @nc_pincushion

The first day was not all fun and games as we had to go pick up my car and then to North Myrtle Beach to pick up some stuff  I left behind when I moved. which was two major reasons for this trip. We made quick work of that and although we had plans to spend the evening and night with my Myrtle Beach Family, a stomach bug put a quick halt to those plans.  So Nick was stuck with us and it was time to play Myrtle Beach tourists and hit some local attractions. What better way than getting some friendly competition in on the go kart tracks at Myrtle Beach Broadway Grand Prix.

After a couple hours of multiple tracks and lots of Smack Talk it was time to head on to our final SC destination for the evening, Murrells Inlet.  Considered the “Seafood Capitol of South Carolina”, what better place to introduce Josh to southern deep fried seafood. (Checking off 2 items deep fried and seafood.  First we took a stroll down the Marsh Walk which quite the outing itself just as the sun was setting.  Which meant DinDin time and Wicked Tuna was the spot.  After devouring fried pickles for an appetizer followed by Josh’s Seafood Platter and my Crabcake dinner, we were stuffed and ready to get some rest for an early morning the next day.2015-03-30 18.36.032015-03-30 18.37.38
